Generosity helps us to reach many with the message of hope and create a space where individuals can be touched and changed by the Word, love, presence and power of God.
Throughout scripture, the heartbeat of God is shown through His generosity. Therefore, our generosity must start from a realisation that God is a loving and generous Father, Who does not withhold any good thing from us, including His only Son – Jesus Christ. Our generosity is a response to His great love towards each of us and His desire that “all might be saved”.
In 2 Corinthians 5:15, Paul tells us, “…those who live should no longer live for themselves but for Him Who died for them and was raised again.” This encourages us to live a life dedicated to The One Who died for us and gave us true life. Therefore, our stance and posture should say “God, all I have is Yours and I want to respond to the love You’ve shown me by partnering with You in Your mission, so that many might be revived and restored by Your love.”
God is extending an invitation to each of us to respond with the spirit of generosity. He is inviting us to lean in alongside a community of generous worshippers who sow their lives, their talents and their resources, so that many people across cities and nations can hear the gospel, learn the language of the Kingdom of God, experience faith-in-action and encounter His presence.
Together with God, we can use our tithes (a tenth of our earnings before tax), offerings, and overall generosity to help establish God’s dreams through the local church and see the heavens open up with supernatural rewards over our lives, our church and our world.
